Hi all
We're all set for the field trip and all the NGO's are looking forward
to meeting you all. I didn't expect so many people to attend - I think
we are about 20 people - I was thinking the regions of 12 but there
are no active classes happening at the school labs and the library
computer lab so we won't be disturbing any active lessons and we
should all be able to squeeze into the spaces so that the NGO staff
can explain what they are doing in their particular area.
For me the key purpose of the trip is to stimulate ideas on how we can
apply our current research or new areas of research to the real life
issues being faced in health care, education, business development in
a township environment - I also hope that by talking to the NGOs about
some of our work that it will also help NGOs understand possible new
ways to use ICTs for some of their work.
Our lunch time could eat into our schedule if we go to a restaurant or
all queue at a take away place and we only have 30 minutes. My
suggestion is that one car with 2 people goes to food lovers market 2
km away and buys pies / sandwiches and drinks for everyone and we eat
our lunch under the trees at the Chasmay road campus.
If we turn the lunch idea into a discussion about logistics - Thomas
can put this on the wiki and we can settle this there
Cheers
David
